Technology Points come from 6 per player level, 1 per fast travel point unlocked, and Technical Manuals. Ancient Technology Points come from first-time boss kills only — 1 per Alpha, 5 per Tower Boss. Lifmunk Effigies give none of either; they buy Capture Power.
Effigies → Capture Power, at the Statue of Power. Technology Points → levelling and fast travel. These are completely separate systems and always have been.
Technology Points
| Source | Points | Repeatable? |
|---|---|---|
| Player level gained | 6 per level | Until the level cap |
| Fast travel point unlocked | 1 each | Finite — one per statue |
| High Grade Technical Manual | 1 | Yes, as items drop |
| Innovative Technical Manual | 2 | Yes |
| Future Technical Manual | 3 | Yes |
The fast travel points are also known as Great Eagle Statues. Community map data counts 137 fast travel markers in the world, so simply flying a mount between unvisited statues is worth a meaningful chunk of points and costs nothing but time.
Every statue is 1 point and a permanent travel node. Doing a statue sweep early converts into both tech progress and the ability to move your resource runs around the map, which compounds with everything else.
Where Technical Manuals come from
Chests are the main source. The Barge Oil Rig's ordinary chests list a High Grade Technical Manual at 3.2% and an Ancient Technical Manual at 2.2%, and higher rigs carry the larger Training Manual tiers.
Ancient Technology Points
| Source | Points | Repeatable? |
|---|---|---|
| Alpha Pal, first defeat | 1 | No — first kill only |
| Tower Boss, first defeat | 5 | No — first kill only |
| Ancient Technical Manual | 1 | Yes, as items drop |
Because boss points are first-kill only, Ancient Technology Points are a budget, not a farm. Community map data counts 83 Alpha Pal markers. Every ancient production structure costs 5 points, so the order you unlock them matters:
| Structure | Tech Lv | Ancient points |
|---|---|---|
| Sulfur Quarry | 46 | 5 |
| Pure Quartz Quarry | 52 | 5 |
Repeat Alpha kills still pay Ancient Civilization Parts every time, so a daily Alpha loop remains worth running long after the points dry up.
One widely cited tally gives 384 Technology Points from levelling plus 75 from fast travel, and 72 Ancient Technology Points from Alphas plus 35 from Towers — but is explicitly marked as of version 0.7.0. The 384 figure divides cleanly by 6 into 64 levels, matching the old cap of 65. Version 1.0 raised the cap and added new ancient technologies, so post-1.0 totals are unverified.
Can you reset Technology Points?
No. Neither database documents any reset, refund or respec for Technology Points. Three things are easy to confuse here:
| What | Resettable? | How |
|---|---|---|
| Technology Points | No | — |
| Pal stat points | Yes | Statue of Power, refundable at any time for Gold Coins |
| Player stat points | Reportedly yes | Memory Wiping Medicine — community-reported, not confirmed on either database |
Effigies: what they actually do
Version 1.0 reworked Lifmunk Effigies into a family of Pal Effigies, all redeemed at the Statue of Power, each upgrading a different player attribute. None of them touch the technology tree.
| Effigy | Upgrades | Count | Ranks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lifmunk Effigy | Capture Power | 155 | 15 |
| Lamball Effigy | Satiety Duration | 30 | 20 |
| Pengullet Effigy | Swimming Ability | 30 | 20 |
| Munchill Effigy | Food Preservation | 30 | 20 |
| Herbil Effigy | Flight Capacity | 30 | 20 |
| Rooby Effigy | Jump Power | 30 | Not listed |
| Tanzee Effigy | Climbing Proficiency | 30 | Not listed |
| Depresso Effigy | Status Resistance | 30 | Not listed |
| Cattiva Effigy | Endurance | 30 | Not listed |
| Lunaris Effigy | Sphere Tracking | 4 | 4 |
| Relaxaurus Effigy | EXP Gain | 4 | 4 |
| Yakumo Effigy | Rainbow Fortune | 4 | Not listed |
| Mimog Effigy | Movement Speed | Not published | 40+ |
Counts above come from community reference data. The Relaxaurus Effigy is the sleeper — only four exist in the whole world and they upgrade EXP Gain, which feeds straight back into the 6-points-per-level pipeline. Grab those four early.
The Mimog Effigy is not collected
It "suddenly comes into your possession when you capture many Pals" — specifically, it is rewarded from a 5× Pal capture bonus. Version 1.0 reduced the captures required to complete a Capture Bonus from 12 to 5, which makes Movement Speed the easiest effigy line to progress: you get it simply by playing.
How many Lifmunk Effigies do you need?
One reference says there are 605 effigies and 353 are needed for full capture power. Another counts 155. A Capture Power table from the first of those references says 15 ranks costing 100 effigies in total, with per-rank costs of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, then 9 for each remaining rank — which sums exactly to 100. The arithmetic checks out only for the 100 figure, so treat 353 as stale.
Effigy locations
Neither database publishes effigy coordinates or a location list. What is documented is what to look for: a bright green glow, easiest to spot at night, found behind waterfalls, on rocky peaks, in ruins and in ground-level crevices. Community map data counts 140 Lifmunk Effigy markers.
Which regions each of the newer Pal Effigy types appears in is also not published — reference databases point at separate map filter tools for the Palpagos Islands and the World Tree without listing areas, and Statue of Power documentation mentions no region restrictions.
A practical order of operations
- Sweep fast travel statues. 1 point each, permanent travel, no combat.
- Kill every Alpha once. 1 Ancient point apiece, plus Ancient Civilization Parts on every repeat.
- Clear Towers when you can. 5 Ancient points each, and they gate the quarry structures.
- Collect the four Relaxaurus Effigies. EXP Gain compounds into your level-based points.
- Open chests you pass. Technical Manuals are the only repeatable Technology Point source.
What to do next
- Spend Ancient points on the Sulfur Quarry first — it unlocks earliest at Tech 46.
- Buy Applied Handbooks with Dog Coins; they raise work suitability without costing tech points.
- Keep an Alpha farming loop running for the parts your unlocks will need.
