Pure Quartz comes from bluish-white crystal nodes in snowy terrain and needs a Pal with Mining Lv3; the cluster documented with coordinates is Unthawable Lake at (-212, 249) in the Astral Mountains, with 9 nodes in one base radius. There is no item simply called "Quartz" — the two quartz materials are Pure Quartz and Hexolite Quartz.
Base at Unthawable Lake (-212, 249). Mining Lv3 minimum. Wear cold-resistant armour. You need it for Circuit Boards and Pal Metal Ingots.
The two quartz materials
| Material | Region | Weight | Primary use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pure Quartz | Snowfields (Astral Mountains, Sakurajima) | 5 | Circuit Board, Pal Metal Ingot |
| Hexolite Quartz | Feybreak only | 2 | Hexolite, Hexolite Quartz Mine |
They are not interchangeable and neither converts into the other. Most searches for "Palworld quartz" mean Pure Quartz, which is the one you hit in the mid-game.

One source lists a gold value of 500; another lists a sell price of 10. This guide quotes neither as the merchant payout.
Pure Quartz locations
Verified cluster
| Location | Coordinates | Nodes | Region |
|---|---|---|---|
| Unthawable Lake | (-212, 249) — open on map | 9 | Astral Mountains, Palpagos Islands |
Unthawable Lake is a named sub-area of the Astral Mountains, the northern part of the Snow Island. Pure Quartz and oil ponds are the region's documented resources, and local boss levels there run 43–60 — so you want gear before you settle there, not after.
Where else Pure Quartz spawns
| Area | Region | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Astral Mountains (whole region) | Palpagos Islands | Confirmed by region data |
| Frostbound Mountains and other icy terrain | Palpagos Islands | Confirmed by item description ("snowy fields and similar places") |
| Sakurajima snowy areas | Sakurajima | Community-reported |
| Frozen Cave expedition | — | Confirmed expedition reward |
A widely repeated claim says the Astral Mountains hold 402 of the game's 534 Pure Quartz nodes, with 55 on Sakurajima. That figure comes from games-media write-ups rather than the reference databases, so treat it as community-reported and unverified. The direction it points — go north, not to Sakurajima — matches the documented region data.
How to recognise a Pure Quartz node
Pure Quartz nodes are about the size of coal and ore nodes but carry large bluish-white crystal outcroppings scattered across the surface. In a snowfield at night they are easy to walk straight past — the crystals catch light, the rock body does not.
Pals that drop Pure Quartz
| Pal | Quantity | Rate | Corroboration |
|---|---|---|---|
| Frostallion Noct | 10 | — | Source A only |
| Neptilius | 10 | — | Source A only |
| Pierdon Cryst | 4–5 | 100% | Source B only |
| Astegon | 3–5 | — | Source A only |
The two sources list different droppers — one leads with Frostallion Noct, Neptilius and Astegon, the other with Pierdon Cryst — and only one of them publishes a drop rate. Both lists are shown rather than merged into a single unverified table.
Frostallion Noct and Neptilius are boss-tier targets, so 10 Pure Quartz per kill is not a farm. Nodes remain the only sensible bulk source until you have the Quarry.
The Pure Quartz Quarry
| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Technology level | 52 |
| Cost | 5 Ancient Technology points |
| Prerequisite | Defeat the PAL Genetic Research Unit Tower |
| Materials | 70 Stone, 100 Pure Quartz, 30 Paldium Fragment, 10 Ancient Civilization Parts |
| Build workload | 50,000 |
| Work suitability | Mining Lv1 |
| Workload per 1 Pure Quartz | 10,000 |
10,000 workload per unit is the highest per-item cost of the three basic quarries — Coal and Sulfur both sit at 8,000 — so the Quarry is a trickle, not a firehose. Its real value is that it works at a temperate base while your snowfield outpost handles bulk.
Some references refer to a "Pure Quartz Mine" while others call it the Pure Quartz Quarry. There is one structure, at Technology level 52.
What Pure Quartz is used for
| Product | Recipe | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Circuit Board | 4 Pure Quartz + 2 Polymer | Gates electronics, the Crude Oil Extractor and most late structures |
| Pal Metal Ingot | 1 Pure Quartz + 4 Ore + 2 Paldium Fragment | Endgame armour, weapons and the Pal Metal Pickaxe |
| Soralite Ingot | Soralite + Pure Quartz | 1.0 Sunreach endgame crafting chain |
| Pure Quartz Quarry | 100 Pure Quartz | One-off cost to automate it |
Circuit Boards are the reason Pure Quartz demand explodes. Each needs 2 Polymer, which comes from High Quality Pal Oil — so a Pure Quartz base without an oil supply just stockpiles crystal you cannot spend.
Hexolite Quartz (Feybreak)
In-game description: "A rare crystal found only in Feybreak. Over many years, Paladium has condensed and transformed, now shining with a rainbow-like glow." It also feeds the research for Mining Level 6 and Cooling Level 5 technologies.
What to do next
- Settle Unthawable Lake at (-212, 249) with three Mining Lv3+ Pals and cold-resistant armour.
- Line up High Quality Pal Oil for the Polymer half of every Circuit Board.
- If you have already cleared Feybreak, read the Chromite guide for the Hexolite chain.
