Chromite is buried underground on Feybreak island only, and you cannot see it — you need either the Metal Detector (Technology level 58) or Smokie as your active partner to reveal deposits, then mine them normally.
Feybreak dungeons. Bring Smokie or a Metal Detector. Six documented caves, four nodes each. Kill Silvegis for 2–3 on the way past.

| Rarity | Common |

In-game description: "a type of metal buried underground."
One source lists Chromite's gold value as 1,500; another lists a sell price of 7. These are different fields and cannot both be a merchant payout, so this guide quotes neither as the sale price.
Chromite cave locations on Feybreak
These six cave entrances are the coordinates that have been published. Each cave is reported to contain 4 Chromite nodes, and dungeon interiors reset, so they are repeatable on a daily loop.
| Cave entrance | Nodes | Note |
|---|---|---|
| (-912, -1318) — open on map | 4 | Reported to have no boss; a friendly Pal Tamer inside grants a Work book |
| (-1209, -1104) — open on map | 4 | — |
| (-1203, -1386) — open on map | 4 | — |
| (-1038, -1196) — open on map | 4 | — |
| (-962, -979) — open on map | 4 | — |
| (-733, -1029) — open on map | 4 | — |
The boss-free cave at (-912, -1318) is the one to start with: four nodes with nothing to fight, so you can run it at any gear level as long as you can survive the trip across Feybreak.
Alpha lairs with Chromite
Community references name three subterranean Alpha lairs on Feybreak as reliable daily Chromite sources, each with multiple nodes alongside the boss:
- Silvegis — the Alpha also drops 2–3 Chromite itself
- Kitsun Noct
- Splatterina
Chromite does spawn sporadically on the Feybreak surface, but no source publishes surface node locations, so dungeons are the only route this guide can point you at with coordinates.
How to actually see Chromite
Option 1: Smokie (available early)
| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Partner skill | Detects nearby Chromite by smell and marks it |
| Effect | +100–200% Chromite acquisition, scaling with partner skill level |
| Work suitability | Gathering Lv2 |
| Own drop | Chromite ×1–2, 100% |
| Where to get it | Palpagos Islands, especially the Dark Island (Yamijima) area at Lv50–66; also Feybreak Cavern |
One source gives the skill as "Dig, Smokie! Dig!"; another renders it "Dig, Dog! Dig!". Same skill, same effect — only the localised name differs between the two databases.
Option 2: Metal Detector (Technology level 58)
| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Technology level | 58 |
| Materials | 30 Plasteel, 100 Paldium Fragment, 15 Computer, 20 Nightstar Sand |
| Work to craft | 5,000 |
| Durability | 400 |
| Weight | 25 |
| Crafted at | Production Assembly Line II, Advanced Workshop, Ancient Workbench |
The detector marks hidden deposits in dungeons, but the marks drop off if you move too far away. Sweep one chamber, mine what lights up, then move — do not try to tag a whole cave and come back.
Nothing stops you running the Metal Detector with Smokie out as your partner. The detector finds the nodes; Smokie's multiplier increases what each node gives you. Smokie alone is the better deal until Tech 58, since the detector needs 20 Nightstar Sand you would otherwise be saving.
Pals that drop Chromite
Alpha Silvegis drops the same 2–3. With only two droppers at low quantities, hunting is a supplement, not a farm — a single four-node cave beats a long kill loop.
Other ways to get Chromite
- Dark Cave of Feybreak expedition — unlocked after defeating the Feybreak Tower.
- "Arrogant Pal Critic" mission — one-off reward.
What Chromite is used for
| Product | Recipe | Made at |
|---|---|---|
| Hexolite | 5 Chromite + 12 Hexolite Quartz + 20 Ore | Gigantic Furnace |
| Silvegis Emblem | Listed as a Chromite recipe | — |
| Mythical Wooden Board | Listed as a Chromite recipe | — |
Hexolite is the real target. It needs Hexolite Quartz, a separate Feybreak-only crystal described in game as condensed Paladium with a rainbow glow — you get that from Celesdir (2–3, 100%), the Feybreak Hard expedition (10–20), and its own nodes. Plan a Feybreak trip that collects both, because Hexolite armour needs a lot of each.
What to do next
- Farm Nightstar Sand first if you want the Metal Detector — it needs 20.
- Catch a Smokie on the Dark Island before you head to Feybreak.
- Read the ore and mining guide for the 20 Ore per Hexolite you will also need.
