Ore comes from the metallic-streaked nodes scattered across every region; you need any pickaxe to break them yourself, and a Pal with Mining Lv2 to break them at a base. The two node clusters with published coordinates are Desolate Church (71, -403) and Cinnamoth Forest (-76, -317), each holding 9 nodes inside one base radius.
Ore at a glance
| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Weight (per unit) | 8 |
| Max stack | 9,999 |
| Rarity | Common |
| Mining suitability to work an Ore node | Lv2 |
| Tool required | Any pickaxe (Stone Pickaxe or better) |
| Refines into | 1 Ingot per 2 Ore, at a Furnace (10s) |
| Regions | Palpagos Islands, Sakurajima, Feybreak, Sunreach, World Tree |
The in-game description reads: "Becomes an ingot when refined using a furnace. Can be found in caves and other places."
One source lists Ore's gold value as 100, while another lists a sell price of 5. These are almost certainly two different fields (base item value vs. what a merchant actually pays), so this guide does not quote a single sell figure.
Which Mining level breaks which node
Work suitability is checked per node type. A Pal below the threshold simply will not interact with the rock.
| Node | Mining Lv | Region |
|---|---|---|
| Stone / Paldium Fragment | 1 | Everywhere |
| Ore | 2 | Everywhere |
| Sulfur | 2 | Volcanic areas |
| Coal | 3 | Caves, desert, snow, Sakurajima |
| Pure Quartz | 3 | Snowfields |
| Soralite | 6 | Sunreach (Sky Island) |
Two node types sit outside the pickaxe system entirely. Chromite on Feybreak is buried and must be located with a Metal Detector or Smokie's partner skill, and Sunreach's Soralite plus the World Tree's Paloxite both require the Plasma Multicutter (Technology level 54) — ordinary pickaxes will not damage them.
Pickaxe tiers
Every tier breaks the same nodes. What changes is durability and the Mining Yield Up passive, which increases the amount collected per swing.
| Pickaxe | Tech Lv | Materials | Durability | Passive |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Stone Pickaxe | 1 | 5 Stone, 5 Wood | 150 | — |
| Metal Pickaxe | 11 | 15 Stone, 20 Wood, 15 Ingot | 250 | Mining Yield Up Lv1 |
| Refined Metal Pickaxe | 34 | 30 Stone, 4 Wooden Board, 10 Refined Ingot | 300 | Mining Yield Up Lv2 |
| Pal Metal Pickaxe | 44 | 100 Stone, 10 Pal Metal Ingot, 10 High Quality Wooden Board, 5 Corrosive Solvent | 400 | Mining Yield Up Lv4 |
| Plasma Multicutter | 54 | 50 Pal Metal Ingot, 50 Plasteel, 30 Bio Battery, 10 Computer, 10 Cryogenic Coolant | 850 | Logging/Mining Yield Up |
The Stone Pickaxe costs 0 Technology points, so there is no reason to be without one. The Plasma Multicutter is the only genuine gate: it is the sole tool that cuts Soralite and Paloxite, and it also fells trees, so it replaces your axe as well.
Durability is consumed per swing regardless of tier, and Ore's weight of 8 usually caps your run before durability does. A spare Stone Pickaxe weighs 10 and costs nothing.
Best mining Pals
Highest Mining suitability
Mining suitability determines how fast a Pal chews through a node or a base structure's workload. These are the top tiers listed for the 1.0 roster.
One published Mining table lists Bastigor at Lv8 and Cryolinx Terra at Lv6, where another lists both at Lv5. The table above follows the lower figures, which match the individual Pal pages we checked (Digtoise Lv4, Anubis Lv6, Astegon Lv7, Knocklem Lv7). Treat the borderline entries as unconfirmed.
Best partner skills for hand-mining
| Pal | Skill | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Digtoise | Drill Crusher | Enters Shell Spin and follows you, increasing ore mining efficiency by 800–2000% (scales with partner skill level) |
| Astegon | Black Ankylosaur | Flying mount; +1100–3300% damage dealt to ores and +150–300% Ore obtained while mounted |
| Smokie | Dig, Dog! Dig! | Detects and marks buried Chromite on Feybreak |
Digtoise is the measurable best for pure throughput on Palpagos ore nodes because its multiplier applies to your own swings and stacks with your pickaxe's Mining Yield Up. Astegon is better when the nodes are spread out, because it flies you between them and buffs the yield rather than only the speed.
Best mining base locations
Only two Ore clusters have published coordinates. Both fit 9 nodes inside one base circle, which is the practical ceiling for a single ore base.
| Location | Coordinates | Nodes | Node type |
|---|---|---|---|
| Desolate Church | (71, -403) — open on map | 9 | Ore |
| Cinnamoth Forest | (-76, -317) — open on map | 9 | Ore |
| Sealed Realm of the Winged Tyrant | (-159, -91) — open on map | 9 | Coal |
| Unthawable Lake | (-212, 249) — open on map | 9 | Pure Quartz |
| Near Eternal Pyre Tower Entrance | (-597, -519) — open on map | 8 | Sulfur |
All five are on the Palpagos Islands. Other high-density clusters certainly exist — the published ore-node listings are explicitly marked work-in-progress — but this guide does not list coordinates it could not verify.
How to staff an ore base
- Two or three Mining Lv3+ Pals is enough for 9 nodes; more Pals mostly add to your work-suitability bottleneck elsewhere.
- Add a Transporting Pal, or the ore will pile up on the ground next to the node instead of reaching the chest.
- Put the Furnace inside the same base. Refining 2 Ore into 1 Ingot converts weight 16 into weight 5 before you ever carry it.
Automated Ore: mining site structures
Both structures generate Ore with no node required, so they can be placed at any base. They need only Mining Lv1 to operate, but higher Mining finishes the workload faster.
| Structure | Tech Lv | Materials | Work suitability |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ore Mining Site | 24 | 50 Stone, 25 Ingot, 20 Paldium Fragment, 5 Ancient Civilization Parts | Mining Lv1 |
| Ore Mining Site II | 39 | 100 Stone, 50 Ingot, 40 Paldium Fragment, 10 Ancient Civilization Parts | Mining Lv1 |
Both carry a SAN cost of -0.15 per work tick, so a mining base needs beds and a Hot Spring or your Pals will burn out. The Ancient Civilization Parts cost means you cannot build either until you have started clearing Tower and Alpha bosses.
Pals that drop Ore
| Pal | Quantity | Rate |
|---|---|---|
| Pierdon | 4–5 | 100% |
| Digtoise | 2–3 | 100% |
| Knocklem | 2–3 | 100% |
| Knocklem Ignis | 2–3 | 100% |
| Cryolinx Terra | 2–3 | 100% |
| Gorirat Terra | 2–3 | 100% |
| Surfent Terra | 2–3 | 100% |
Killing Pals is a poor Ore source next to a node base — 2–3 per kill against 9 nodes respawning per in-game day. It matters only when you are already farming those Pals for something else. Expeditions are the better passive source: Grass, Forest, Volcano, Desert, Snow and Sakurajima expeditions all return Ore, in the range of 30–80 per run.
Where the other ores live
| Ore | Region | Weight | How to get it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ore | All regions | 8 | Pickaxe, Mining Lv2 |
| Coal | Caves, desert, snow, Sakurajima | 5 | Pickaxe, Mining Lv3 |
| Sulfur | Volcanic areas | 3 | Pickaxe, Mining Lv2 |
| Pure Quartz | Snowfields (Astral Mountains, Sakurajima) | 5 | Pickaxe, Mining Lv3 |
| Chromite | Feybreak | 3 | Metal Detector or Smokie, then mine |
| Hexolite Quartz | Feybreak | 2 | Nodes, Celesdir drops, expeditions |
| Soralite | Sunreach (Sky Island) | 5 | Plasma Multicutter, Mining Lv6 |
| Paloxite | World Tree | Not listed | Plasma Multicutter, under World Tree Holy Water |
Soralite and Paloxite arrived with the 1.0 update on 10 July 2026, which added the Sunreach sky island and the World Tree region and raised the level cap from 65 to 80. Paloxite has a hard gate: mine it without the World Tree Holy Water effect active and the node simply disappears.
What to do next
- Settle the Desolate Church ore base at (71, -403) and put a Furnace in it before you build anything else.
- Move on to Coal and Pure Quartz — Refined Ingots and Circuit Boards are the real bottlenecks past Tech 30.
- Bank Ancient Civilization Parts; every mining structure in the game costs them.
